Aiyu meaning "Love Jade" in Chinese got its name from a mythical story.

A businessmen was too thirsty and drank the water from a spring besides a mountain path. He discovered that the water was in half frozen state. When he looked around, he realized the spring was cool because of the fluids coming from the dropped fruits from the trees around the spring.

He took some of the fruits home, grinded in the water, added some sugar and tasted it. It tasted delicious!

The businessman then asked his 15-year-old unoccupied daughter "Aiyu" to sell the cool mix in the market. It was so well received by the market that everyone called it "Aiyu Cool Mix".

Aiyu actually is a kind of perennial evergreen plants from the moraeae ficus family. It grows by winding on rocks or trees. In wild it mainly spreads in medium-low altitude areas at 1200-1900 meters above the sea level.

Being dioecious Aiyu needs the fig bees residing on it to help spread the pollen. The little hole at the bottom of its hidden fruit actually fits well with the fig bees' body structure.
